"La Fiesta Nightclub" Fresno, CA
The La Fiesta Nightclub opened in Fresno's Chinatown in the late-1940s. This gorgeous neon sign may be from then, or the early 1950s. According to the locals, the neon has not operated for decades. When it did, the dancer had animated arms with the tambourine and her leg moved. Around 2008, the neon was removed from the text part of the sign and repainted. The sign is approximately seven feet wide. It's unexpected beauty and grace is one of the reasons why I love what I do and feel the need to document all that I can before they are all torn down or in the clutches of private collectors.
